Toquenos are Venezuelan cheese-filled pastries. Makes 1 Serving.



  1. Dissolve the salt and Sugar in the water.
  2. Mix all ingredients except the Cheese together.
  3. Knead to form a dough. Let rest.
  4. Cut Cheese into sticks
  5. Stretch the dough with a rolling pin.
  6. Cut in strips about .
  7. Wrap each strip around a Cheese stick
  8. Pinch the ends so that the Cheese is fully covered
  9. Roll each tequeno in flour, to keep them from sticking.
  10. Deep fry the tequenos in very hot oil, until golden in color.
  11. Place on paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
