Description
This recipe came from the Hartman Estate Sale. It was obtained it as part of the purchase of the Family Collection from the Hartman Estate in Arlington, Texas in 1984.

Ingredients
- ¾ cup shortening
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups flour sifted
- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- ¾ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups oatmeal
- 1½ cups dates cut up
- ¾ cup chopped nuts
Directions
- Cream shortening then add sugar gradually and cream until fluffy.
- Blend in eggs, milk and vanilla.
- Add dry ingredients then drop from teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet.
- Bake at 375°F for 10 minutes.
