Description

Ingredients

  • ¾ pt milk
  • 1 oz Sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ oz dried fruit
  • 3 or 4 small thin slices of bread, buttered
  • nutmeg

Procedures

  1. Beat the egg with the Sugar, and add the milk which has been heated.
  2. Place half of the bread in a buttered pie dish, sprinkle the fruit over it and cover with the rest of the bread.
  3. Strain the egg and milk mixture over the bread, and grate a little nutmeg on top. Allow to soak for 30 minutes before cooking.
  4. Steam gently for 45 minutes, or bake in a moderate oven.
