Ingredients

Procedures

  1. Soak the herring in water to cover overnight.
  2. Drain.
  3. Rinse again and cut into ½ inch slices.
  4. Combine the tomatoes, water, and sugar in a saucepan.
  5. Cook over low heat for 15 minutes.
  6. Mix well.
  7. Add the dill, parsley, scallions, , vinegar, and oil.
  8. Cook for 5 minutes.
  9. Pour over the herring.
  10. Chill.
  11. Serve very cold on lettuce leaves.
