Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 sticks butter
- 1 cup water
- 1 tsp vinegar
- 3 – 4 tsp cocoa
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 – 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Wacky Cake Frosting
- ¾ stick butter
- 4 tsp buttermilk
- 2½ - 3 tsp cocoa
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
Procedures
- Sift flour, sugar, cinnamon and salt.
- In a saucepan, combine butter, water and cocoa.
- Bring to a boil and pour over flour mixture.
- In another bowl, mix eggs, soda, buttermilk, vinegar and vanilla.
- Add to flour mixture, blending well.
- Pour into a 10 x 15 inch jellyroll pan.
- Bake 350°F for 20 – 30 minutes,depending on the size of the pan.
- As soon as you take the cake out of the oven,sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top, if desired.
- Then apply the frosting.
Wacky Cake Frosting
- Combine butter, cocoa and buttermilk in a saucepan.
- Melt over low heat.
- Do not boil.
- Remove from heat, add powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing well.
- Pour over cake as soon as it's taken from the oven.
