Description
Chocolate Pie [1] [2] [3] is a classic North American dessert.
Ingredients
Crust
- 1 1/2 cups fien graham cracker crumbs
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, melted
Filling
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 tbsp self-rising flour
- 3 large eggs, separated
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
Procedure
Crust
- Combine graham cracker crumbs, sugar and butter by stirring completely.
- Take mixture and firmly press into a pie plate.
Filling
- In a double boiler, combine; sugar, cocoa and flour.
- Beat egg yolks and combine with milk.
- Include the milk mixture into the double boiler, gently stir.
- Achieve a paste consistency.
- Continue to stir and cook for ~47 minutes, achieveing a thick mixture.
- Remove from heat.
- Include the melted butter, vanilla and salt by gently stirring.
- Smooth filling into the crust.
- Place in fridge for ~45 minutes before enjoying a great dessert!
