Baked Beans Vegetarian-style

  1. Precook beans in boiling water for 2 minutes.
  2. Cover and let stand 1 hour.
  3. Then simmer for 1 hour until tender.
  4. Drain, reserving liquid.
  5. Place beans in crock pot.
  6. Mix 1 cup reserved liquid, brown sugar, molasses, salt and mustard.
  7. Pour over beans and dot with butter.
  8. Cover and cook for 6 – 12 hours on low setting.
