Empanadas de Horno

Makes 10 baked empanadas.



  1. To prepare dough: sift flour with baking powder and salt.
  2. Add egg yolk, egg, milk and shortening.
  3. Mix to make a stiff dough.
  4. Divide into 20 pieces and roll each thinly into a circle.
  5. In frying pan, heat oil with paprika and saute onions until soft.
  6. Add chilli powder, oregano, cumin and salt.
  7. Add meat and mix with onions.
  8. Cook until meat is no longer pink.
  9. Place a spoonful of stuffing on half of each dough circle.
  10. Add slices of egg, raisins and.
  11. Fold dough over filling.
  12. Wet the edge with milk, fold over again and seal.
  13. Bake in a 200°C oven until cooked and lightly browned.
  14. Serve hot.
