  1. Peel the potatoes and cut into four pieces.
  2. Heat the oil, add the onion and garlic; fry until glazed.
  3. Add the masala under stirring.
  4. After doing this, add immediately the potatoes and water until these are just covered.
  5. Also add the sugar and salt (salt to taste).
  6. Cook with medium heat until the potatoes are tender.
