Banana Split with Chocolate and Strawberry Sauces
Description
This recipe makes one huge banana split, to be shared by two. You can make separate ones. From "Catsrecipes Y-Group"[1]
Ingredientts
- 1 banana, sliced lengthwise in half
- ⅓ cup chocolate ice cream
- ⅓ cup strawberry ice cream
- ⅓ cup vanilla ice cream
- ¼ cup chocolate sauce (recipe follows)
- ¼ cup strawberry sauce (recipe follows)
- ⅓ cup whipped cream
- 2 tbsp chopped nuts
- 1 maraschino cherry with stem
Chocolate sauce
- 4 squares (1 oz each) semisweet chocolate
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ⅓ cup corn syrup
- 2 tbsp butter
- ⅛ tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla
Strawberry sauce
- 1 x 16-oz pkg frozen strawberries in syrup, thawed
- 1½ cups coarsely chopped strawberries
- 1 tbsp corn syrup
Procedures
- Place banana in bottom of banana split dish.
- Arrange scoops of ice cream on top.
- Drizzle chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce. Strawberry ice cream with strawberry sauce and vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce.
- Top with whipped cream, nuts and cherry.
Chocolate sauce
- Combine all ingredients except vanilla in a saucepan.
- Cook until chocolate and butter are melted.
- Stir in vanilla and let cool.
- Makes 1¼ cups.
Strawberry sauce
- Puree thawed strawberries in a blender.
- Add chopped strawberries and corn syrup.
- Makes 2 cups.
