  1. Sort and wash beans.
  2. Place beans, broth, onion, garlic, black pepper, oregano, cumin, and ground cloves in a dutch oven.
  3. Bring to a boil.
  4. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 2 hours.
  5. Stir in chicken, chilies, water, salt, and jalapeno.
  6. Bring to a boil.
  7. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 1 hour; stirring often.
