I've Bean to Heaven
Description
This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Howell Estate in Canton, Texas in 1981. From "Catsrecipes Y-Group"[1]
Ingredients
- 2 slices thick bacon diced
- 1 medium white onion diced
- 15 ounces canned pork and beans drained
- ½ cup dark brown sugar
- ½ cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon liquid smoke
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
Procedures
- In a medium saucepan cook bacon pieces until they just begin to brown.
- Remove bacon from pan and drain but retain grease then add onion and sauté until tender.
- Add remaining ingredients and bring to slow boil then simmer 30 minutes.
- Allow cooling for one hour before serving.
